Reverend  Edward Capers, Jr. Pastor 

The Reverend Edward Capers Jr., serves as Pastor of the Ritchie Baptist Church (RBC), Upper Marlboro, Maryland.  Prior to this assignment served as the Youth-Minister, under the dynamic leadership of the Reverend Dr. Sterling R. Swann Jr., Pastor. 

 

From September 2016 thru July 2020, served as the President of the Youth Department of the Potomac River Baptist Association (PRBA) Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC. Also, serves as an Instructor at the Wilbur Henry Waters School of Religion, Inc., and Theological Seminary, Upper Marlboro, Maryland:

 

From 2011 thru 2013, served as an associate minister in the role of Assistant to the Pastor at the Church at the Master’s Table (CMT), District Heights, Maryland, under the leadership of Reverend Robert Harris, Senior Pastor.

 

From 2002 thru 2010, served as an associate minister at Shiloh Baptist Church, Alexandria, Virginia under the leadership of the late Reverend Dr. Lee A. Earl, Senior Pastor.  He served as the Chaplain/Spiritual Advisor for the Senior Ministry and preached at the Laundry House every 5th Sunday to seniors and disadvantaged.

 

Reverend Capers is a native of Mount Pleasant, SC.  He attended Friendship, African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church, SC., where he was issued his license and later ordained to preach the gospel as an associate minister under the auspice of the late Pastor Reverend Joseph T. Jackson.   

 

He served honorably on Active Duty in the United States Marine Corps (USMC) from August 1981 thru September 1989. For his courageous action received the Lieutenant General Certificate of Heroism and a letter from Stafford County Board of Supervisors, Virginia for the saving of lives and property.

 

He is member of the Senior Executive Service (SES), Department of State (DoS), as the Director of the Office of Retirement, Global Talent Management (GTM) Bureau in Washington, DC. He received a Certificate for Heroism in 2019, from the Department of State (DoS), Diplomatic Security Bureau (DS).

 

He served as the President of the First Board of Directors for the Equestrian Estates, Home Owners Association (HOA) from 2011 to 2021.

 

His educational background includes attending The Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology of Virginia Union University; Wilbur Henry Water School of Religion, Inc. and Theological Seminary: Strayer University; and Syracuse University earning an Associates of Arts in Computer Science (AACS); Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems (BSCS); Master’s of Science in Information Systems(MSIS); Master’s in Divinity (MDiv); and Certificate of Executive Leadership from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affair at Syracuse University.

 

Reverend Capers resides in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, with his lovely wife (Mrs. Pilar E. Capers) and is blessed with adult children.
